The loss of a loved one is a life-changing
experience.
When
we first learn that either someone we love has died or is expected to die, we often find ourselves searching for something
to do...some action we can take that will lessen the pain we are feeling.
Ensuring that others know our loved one as we did can help.
A child's marriage...the birth of a grandchild...a
graduation....these are also life-changing experiences.
We want to memorialize our family members, friends and colleagues
in a meaningful way, give them a gift that illustrates how we feel about them...how we remember them...a gift that will be
treasured for generations.
Here's my story:
When we discovered that my husband, Jim, had an inoperable brain tumor, all we could do
was to plan for the worst thing we could imagine happening to us...losing one another.
In the weeks before Jim's death, I designed a Memorial booklet that would be given to the people
who attended Jim's Celebration of Life services. I wanted them to know Jim as I knew him, and the only way to do that was
through this service...and through a small booklet full of photos, quotes, and short stories about our life together and as
a family.
Over the years since Jim died, that little booklet is a treasure
to us - a single publication that contains the essence of Jim's personality and stories about his effect on our lives.
